Art festival coming to Somerset

ARTS and all things creative will be on show at the inaugural Somerset Art Beat Festival in Toogoolawah on 1 June.

The event will celebrate everything about arts and culture with unique market stalls featuring handmade creations from artists across multiple disciplines, live music and dance performances, food and more.

The festival will be held at the award-winning Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery at 29 Factory Road, Toogoolawah from 12pm to 4pm.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the festival, the first of its kind, would be a great day out for locals and visitors alike.

“Entry to this family friendly festival is free and I encourage everyone to come along, bring their family and friends, and celebrate everything that is great about arts and culture in Somerset,” Cr Lehmann said.

“There will be plenty of acts to provide entertainment and engaging stalls for children and adults to participate in and, best of all, it’s a free family friendly festival.”

The festival will coincide with the opening of the new touring exhibition, Wanderlust, which will be on display at the art gallery from Thursday, 23 May 2019.

Wanderlust is a touring exhibition presented by Flying Arts that comprises of winning artworks from the 2018 Queensland Regional Art Awards. All artworks that will be on display embrace the spirit of adventure in Queensland.

The Somerset Art Beat Festival is being supported by Somerset Regional Council in partnership with Creative Alliance.
