Australia Day Art and Cultural Award Winner

SOMERSET resident, Noela Lowien, has been awarded the Australia Day Art and Cultural Award for the Somerset region.

The award recognises the outstanding commitment and dedication to arts and culture in Somerset.

Mrs Lowien, of Kilcoy, has been recognised for her continuous commitment to the arts displayed through the creation of her own works and participation with the Kilcoy Art Society and the Kilcoy District Historical Society. She is a foundation member of both groups.

Mrs Lowien has also been instrumental in researching the history of Kilcoy for inclusion in publications distributed by the Kilcoy Historical Society.

Her nominees described her as a hard-working person who is well respected in art circles.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann congratulated Mrs Lowein on her participation in the arts and culture scene.

“On behalf of the Somerset community, I congratulate Noela on winning this award which recognises her contributions to art and culture,” Cr Lehmann said.
