THE Esk Lions Club has been named Community Group of the Year at the Somerset Australia Day Awards Ceremony.

The Esk Lions Club, a small organisation run by only a dozen volunteers, are dedicated to assisting the residents of Somerset.

The group hosts various community fundraisers throughout the year and all funds raised by the group are injected back into the local community.

The Esk Lions Club have, through the funds they raise, supported food distribution to needy families within the area, sponsored a Somerset teenager to travel to Canada as an ambassador to study, supported various activities on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail and much more.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann congratulated the volunteers of the Esk Lions Club for their ongoing commitment to helping others in the Somerset community.
