Creative Business Workshops Available for Somerset Artists

SOMERSET artists are being given a unique opportunity by its Council to expand their skill set with a view of turning their passion and talent into a sustainable career.

Somerset Regional Council though the Regional Arts Development Fund will deliver three separate creative business workshops from 30 March through to 13 April 2019 that aim to assist self-employed artists and creatives with the necessary skills to move their careers forward.

The first workshop will be held on Saturday, 30 March 2019 at the Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre from 9am to 1pm and will focus on Writing Artist Statements and Resumes.

The second workshop will be held on Saturday, 6 April 2019 at the Esk Library from 9am to 1pm and will focus on Portfolio Development and Presentation.

The third and final workshop will be held on Saturday, 13 April 2019 from 9am to 1pm at the Fernvale Visitor Information Centre and will focus on Engaging with Social Media.

All workshops are free however bookings are essential as places are limited to the first 20 people.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the workshops were being offered because Council recognised a need to expose, educate and engage Somerset artists and creative people with ways to make their passion sustainable.

“The workshops aim to teach participants how to write artist statements and resumes, portfolio development and engaging with social media,” Cr Lehmann said.

The project is supported by the Somerset Council RADF, a partnership between the Queensland Government and Somerset Regional Council to support arts and culture in regional Queensland.
