Green Thumbs in Somerset get your Gardens Ready

GREEN thumbs in Somerset are being given an extra incentive to spruce up their gardens in time for Spring.

Somerset Regional Council has partnered with Searles, the leading market innovator in the home garden industry, to deliver the inaugural 2017 Somerset Garden Competition.

The competition will encourage Somerset garden enthusiasts to enter their gardens into an open garden display and associated competition from Tuesday, 1 August 2017 to Sunday, 8 October 2017.

Judging will occur from Monday, 9 October 2017 and the community will be invited to view gardens entered into the competition during the last two weekends in October 2017.

There will be three competition categories; Best Rural Garden, Best Urban Garden and Best Business/Community Group and the winners of each category will receive a $500 cash prize and a signature prize pack from Searles valued at $100.

As an added bonus, all entrants into the competition will receive a Searles Garden Product Prize Pack.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann encouraged all residents and businesses in the region to get involved.

“We have some spectacular gardens in Somerset and it will be a great opportunity for residents who put so much effort into their gardens throughout the year to showcase their efforts with visitors and get rewarded in the process,” Cr Lehmann said.

“We’re really excited that Searles have come on board as the major sponsor. Searles are a family-owned and operated company situated on the outskirts of Kilcoy and are industry experts in garden products and services.”

Entry forms will be available from 1 August 2017.
