Somerset Art Students Celebrate Achievements

SENIOR art students from across Somerset are showcasing their creative talent by displaying their works at the Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery in Toogoolawah.

It is the first-time all senior school art students from the region’s three high schools have had the opportunity to display their work at a professionally run art gallery in Somerset.

The opening night of the exhibit, held on Friday, 28 September, was well supported with more than 50 people attending and celebrating their achievements.

The unique exhibition features a range of pieces and designs across various mediums and show the unlimited imagination of senior students from Toogoolawah, Kilcoy and Lowood State High Schools.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said it was the first time Council has coordinated the three schools to display the artwork at Council’s award-winning gallery.

“It’s a fantastic opportunity for these students and the calibre of artwork on display needs to be commended. They have done a fantastic job,” Cr Lehmann said.

“These students have a lot of creativity and it’s great that Council is able to work with these three high schools to make this exhibit happen.

“I just encourage the community to come out and see the exhibition and support our school students.”

The exhibit will be showcased at 29 Factory Road, Toogoolawah until Sunday, 4 November 2018.

The gallery is open daily from 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday.
