Somerset Artists Encouraged to Apply for Gallery Space

SOMERSET based artists are now being encouraged to apply to exhibit at the popular Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery in Toogoolawah.

The community exhibitions program provides an opportunity for Somerset based artists to apply to display their new works in a professional venue, owned and managed by Somerset Regional Council, that attracts hundreds of visitors each month.

To be eligible to apply artists must be a Somerset resident. All art forms will be considered.

Exhibition applications will be assessed by the advisory committee of the Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery at scheduled meetings held quarterly throughout the year.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the aim of the program was to highlight talented artists who live in Somerset.

“Council is actively pursuing touring exhibitions and other high calibre and notable exhibitions to display at the gallery however we want to ensure that residents of Somerset still have an opportunity to display in this quality venue,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The number of exhibition slots available to Somerset residents will vary according to the Gallery’s exhibition calendar.

“We have an abundance of talented artists in Somerset and we are encouraging all Somerset artists, emerging and established, to submit an application to display at the gallery.”

Somerset residents are encouraged to fill out a gallery exhibition form available from Council’s website, www.somerset.qld.gov.au/condensery

Applications for Somerset artists close at 5pm on Monday, 27 August 2018.
