Somerset Interschool Sports Cup Held at Toogoolawah

KILCOY State High School won the coveted Somerset School’s Sports Cup in the annual sporting event held at Toogoolawah on Friday, 8 June.

The interschool sports cup is sponsored by Somerset Regional Council to encourage engagement and active lifestyles between the region’s three high schools.

Lowood, Kilcoy and Toogoolawah State High Schools tested their sporting prowess in soccer, touch football and netball for the third consecutive year.

Somerset Regional Council Deputy Mayor Dan Hall presented the Interschool Sports Cup to Kilcoy who won the overall competition points.

Cr Hall congratulated all students for participating in the annual event and Toogoolawah State High School for hosting the event again.

A match was also played between the Somerset teachers and the Somerset police team, with the police team coming out victorious for the first time.

Council will continue to fund the Somerset Sports Cup, with funding used to provide buses for the travelling schools and the engraving of the competition trophies.

Cr Hall said the Somerset Sports Cup is a great initiative that encourages high school students to get involved in sport.

“It was a fantastic day with all students, teachers and police showing great sportsmanship, leadership and team skills,” Cr Hall said.
