Council Grants Permit for Community Bull Ride

Somerset Regional Council has approved a temporary entertainment permit for the owners of the Bottle Tree Hotel at Glamorgan Vale to hold a rodeo on Friday, 20 October.

The rodeo including bull ride will be held from in the car park of the hotel between 5pm and 2am. 

Council Approves Car Rally at Mt Archer

A car rally at Archer Falls Airfield has been approved by Somerset Regional Council.

The event will be held on Saturday, 21 October from 8am until 11pm at 1253 Neurum Road, Mount Archer.

The event is open to car enthusiasts and offers a display of hot rods, bikes, custom vehicles and entertainment from vehicle time trials and live bands.

More Native Trees for Toogoolawah

Somerset Regional Council will install a variety of native trees along a path at Toogoolawah.

The trees and scrubs will include bird attracting species and will be planted in replace of Hoop Pines.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the trees would be planted from Cressbrook Street to Old Mt Beppo Road at Toogoolawah and would complement the area.

Improvements to Washout at Fernvale Coming Soon

Somerset Regional Council will install a culvert and concrete shared path at a creek crossing on the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail at Fernvale.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the project was to alleviate issues of the popular section of the rail trail.

“The crossing is over a creek and becomes difficult to cross in the event of wet weather due to washout,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The upgrades will be more resilient to high flows making it safer for users.”

The path is located behind Woolworths shopping precinct.

Council Awards Sporting Bursary

Somerset Regional Council has awarded a $100 sporting bursary to Ethan Versace.

Ethan has been selected to attend the 2017 QSS Track and Field State Championship at Nathan from 12 to 15 October.

Council has made the funds available through its Community Assistance Grants program.
