Road Resealing Starting in Kilcoy Township

Somerset Regional Council will start road resealing works in Kilcoy on Wednesday, 17 May.

Road crews will be working on the following streets, Bechley, Woodrow, Hill, Graham, Stewart, Hope, Robson, Ethel, William (Service Road South), Blunt, Carseldine, Webster, Golf Links, Atthow and Brown.  

Residents are being asked to park their cars in their respective driveways between 7am and 6pm while the work is being carried out.

Council anticipates the work will take up to four days, weather permitting.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said there will be some loose stones on the new surface for a few days following the work.

“This is standard practice however Council will sweep the surface once the new road seal has settled,” Cr Lehmann said.

Somerset to Bring Stories and Rhymes to Playgroups

Somerset Regional Council, through its library branches, would like to hear from playgroups and community groups in the region.

Let Council’s First 5 Forever officer bring the magic of stories, songs and rhymes to your group or centre and introduce early literacy and numeracy as an anywhere, anytime, interactive and fun experiences for the whole family to enjoy.

Sessions are aimed at babies through to five year olds.

The program includes; four weekly visits, 45 minute sessions, stories, songs and rhymes tailored to your group and tips for early learning experiences important to child development.

Community Share Meal on at Kilcoy

Somerset Regional Council is again supporting the Kilcoy and District Cultural Committee with hosting a community share meal.

Residents are invited to attend the free event on Tuesday, 30 May from 12.30pm to 2pm at the Kilcoy Information Centre at Yowie Park.

Attendees are asked to bring along a plate of food, which is part of their cultural background.

Somerset Regional Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the event provided a great opportunity to meet new people from different cultures living in Kilcoy while getting to know their backgrounds over a meal.

Register Now for Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run

Register now for the 15th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run on Sunday, 9 July 2017, which is set to be the biggest yet with a new 24km cycling leg.

Families and competitors of all ages and fitness levels can look forward to a fun, active event which attracts thousands of competitors and supporters to the region.

Registrations are now open for the 8km run/walk events, the 3km run/walk event and the cycle component.

The bike leg will start in Wulkuraka and the run/walk events will start in Lowood.

All events will finish at the Fernvale Sports Park.
