Free Tree Day in Somerset

Somerset Regional Council will hold another free tree day to give away thousands of native and koala food tree species.

The free tree day promotion will be held near the Esk Library (Heap Street, Esk) on Saturday, 10 February.

The trees will be distributed between 8am and 2pm and will be available on first in, best dressed scenario until all tree levels are exhausted.

Documentation and/or photo identification will need to be provided to support an address in Somerset.

Free Workshops on Offer for Sport and Recreation Volunteers

Somerset Regional Council and the Department of National Parks, Sport and Racing are holding free workshops for sport and recreation volunteers in Somerset.

The first workshop focuses on Sports Strapping and will be held on Monday, 12 February at the Fernvale Visitor Information Centre from 6pm to 9pm.

The workshop is ideal for anyone who works directly with athletes and wants to develop basic skills in sports strapping, with a focus on ankle, finger and thumb strapping.

Attendees will learn the basics of how to treat, manage and prevent injuries and get an understanding of when strapping should be used.

Exhibition Opening at Toogoolawah

An art exhibit that focuses on everyday life as experienced by four unique artists will be the essence of a new exhibit at the Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery in Toogoolawah in February.

The exhibit, Crossdale4, features work from four Somerset artists, Jan Williams, Jane Harthoorn-Williams, Sharon Lee and Ian Clark.

The exhibit will be showcased at the art gallery from Saturday, 10 February through to Sunday, 8 April.

An opening of the exhibit will occur at the gallery at 29 Factory Road, Toogoolawah on Saturday, 10 February from 1pm to 3.30pm and everyone is invited. 

Bookings for the opening are essential and can be made by phoning Somerset Regional Council, who manages the gallery, by Wednesday, 7 February on 5423 1036. 

The new exhibit will comprise of sculptures, paintings and ceramics.

As of Monday, 12 February, the Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery will be open seven days per week.

Opening hours will be 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday and from 10am to 4pm on Saturday and Sunday from 12 February.
