Temporary Road Closure at Wivenhoe Pocket

Somerset Regional Council will soon start work on building a new concrete bridge at Wivenhoe Pocket.

Council will close England Creek Road at Pryde Creek Bridge to through traffic from Monday, 12 February until early May.

The road will be closed to allow for the safe construction of a new concrete bridge at Pryde Creek.

Alternative access is via Banks Creek Road across Savages Crossing.

Free Cooking Classes at Lowood

Somerset Regional Council is supporting a monthly cooking class at Lowood State School with Mercy Community Services (Lowood Hub), Anglicare Southern Queensland and Lowood State School. 

The classes will be held every second Thursday of the month during school term from 1pm to 3pm and focus on making easy, quick and affordable meals.

The first class is Thursday, 8 February 2018.

Participants can keep food prepared and any leftover ingredients from the afternoon.

Breast Screen Mobile Van Coming to Somerset

Somerset Regional Council is again supporting Breast Screen Queensland in providing suitable sites for their upcoming mobile visits.

The mobile van will soon be visiting Esk and Toogoolawah.

The Breast Screen Queensland Ipswich Mobile Van will be located at the Esk Visitor Information Centre (Ipswich Street, Esk) from 5 February until the 23 February and outside the Toogoolawah Court House from 26 February until the 16 March.

Free Tree Day in Somerset

Somerset Regional Council will hold another free tree day to give away thousands of native and koala food tree species.

The free tree day promotion will be held near the Esk Library (Heap Street, Esk) on Saturday, 10 February.

The trees will be distributed between 8am and 2pm and will be available on first in, best dressed scenario until all tree levels are exhausted.

Documentation and/or photo identification will need to be provided to support an address in Somerset.
