Somerset Welcomes 21 New Australian Citizens

SOMERSET Regional Council welcomed 21 new Australian Citizens at a special ceremony in Esk.

The ceremony was held on Tuesday, 3 July with over 50 family and friends turning out to support the new citizens.

The new citizens bring with them, their rich cultural heritage from the France, Philippines, United Kingdom, Germany, South Africa and the United States.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann congratulated each new Australian citizen.

“On behalf of Council and the Somerset region I welcome each of you and your families to our community and thank you for making a valuable contribution to Somerset,” Cr Lehmann said.

“It is a huge step becoming an Australian citizen and I congratulate each of you for pledging your loyalty to Australia and its people,” Cr Lehmann said.

Somerset Councillors Dan Hall, Cheryl Gaedtke, Otis Ogg and Sean Choat also attended the service to the welcome the new citizens, as too did Federal Member for Blair Shayne Neumann.
