Summer Reading Club Summer Reading Club

On your marks. The 2017-18 Summer Reading Club kicks off on 1 December and this year’s theme is Game On.

The Summer Reading Club is a free online and in-library holiday program, run in partnership with State Library of Queensland, the Australian Library and Information Association, and the Australian Public Library Alliance.

Summer Reading Club registrations for 2017/18 will open on 1 December. This year’s theme is Game On! Register today and supercharge your summer with plenty of sports, games and team spirit activities at Somerset Libraries.

 

Reading has never been so rewarding.

Read books, magazines, graphic novels, comics or listen to audio books to get rewards these school holidays.

Collect a prize for every book read.

Read 10 or more books and go into the draw to win a JB-HI-Fi voucher.

Celebrate your wins and influence your friends: Log your books and write reviews.

  • When you read a book yourself or with someone, record the title and author in the online reading log.
  • If you love a particular book that you’ve read during the summer school holidays, share your thoughts by writing a review online and record the book title and author.

Useful facts

Are there different levels for different ages?
There are three levels within the club.

  • Pre-school – Children aged 0 - 5 years (parents can read their books to them)
  • Primary – Children aged 6 - 12 years (independent readers, parents can also read books to them)
  • Secondary – Children aged 13 - 16 (independent readers)

The Summer Reading Club is delivered nationally, giving participants the opportunity to connect with reader’s right across the country. Last year over 55,000 Australian children registered for the Summer Reading Club and collectively read more than 450,000 books.
