Brenton Lloyd - 2009 Apprentice of the Year
On Friday 21 August 2009 the Apprenticeships Queensland 2009 Awards Night was held at Ipswich, where Somerset Regional Council Heavy Vehicle Apprentice Brenton Lloyd, took out the 2009 Apprentice of the Year Award - Miscellaneous Trade category, in a competitive field.
Brenton was nominated by Council for the Encouragement Award, but the Judges were so impressed with his nomination he was presented with the Apprentice of the Year Award.
Brenton commenced employment with Somerset Regional Council (formerly Esk Shire Council) through a host agreement with Apprenticeships Queensland in January 2006 as a Heavy Vehicle Mechanic. Through this apprenticeship agreement Brenton is undertaking a Certificate III in Automotive Mechanical Technology (Heavy Vehicle Road Transport). This is now almost complete.
Over the last 3 years Brenton has proven himself to be a valuable member of the workshop team and is an extremely capable and reliable employee.
Now nearing the end of his apprenticeship, his peers and supervisors firmly believe he will excel in his chosen field of work and will make a valuable addition to any organisation.
