6 August 2009 - NEWS RELEASE

Individuals or not for profit groups located in the Somerset Region are being invited to apply for funds from the Esk Kilcoy Community Support Association Inc.    Individuals or groups such as service clubs, schools, sports groups, churches, welfare and health groups are all welcome to apply.

Groups who apply must be not for profit groups and have a project that will benefit the community in the Somerset Region.  The maximum amount granted will be $500.

It is the fourth time money has become available for the local community.  Community Development Worker Amy Stockwell said "The EKCSA committee was very pleased to offer these grants again.  There are many hard working groups and individuals in the area who appreciate the opportunity to gain local funds."

Previous successful applications included the funding of a men's health information night, community education about both domestic violence and how to deal with grief, drama workshops for children, upgrading sporting facilities and the purchase of equipment such as water tanks and fire extinguishers.

"We are very pleased to be able to support the local community in this small way and hope that groups and individuals in the Somerset Region will take up the offer with imaginative and useful projects."

For more information, application forms and conditions please call Amy Stockwell, Community Development Coordinator on 5424 1452 or Brenda Fagan on 5422 4985.  Application forms will be available from the Council offices at Esk, Lowood and Kilcoy and also from Fernvale Futures Complex and the Kilcoy, Lowood, Esk and Toogoolawah  Libraries.
