Highlights from the Somerset Regional Council meeting held on 16 September 2009 included:
Tenders approved on $2 million Neurum Bridge
Council has approved tenders on bridge piling and deck units for the $2 million Neurum Bridge project to be jointly funded by the State Government, the Australian Government under the Roads to Recovery program and Moreton Bay Regional Council together with Somerset Regional Council.
The new two lane concrete bridge will replace the existing single lane timber bridge that has reached the end of its life.
Council in the black for 2008/2009
A healthy contribution from Council's Haslingden Park Lowood residential estate operations has seen Somerset Regional Council return an initial operating surplus of 0.7% of operating revenue according to unaudited financial statements adopted by the Council for the period to 30 June 2009.
At the same meeting, the Council resolved to increase marketing activities to further boost ratepayer returns from Council's residential land development operations.
