Somerset Council briefs 25 September 2009


Highlights from the Somerset Regional Council meeting held on 25 September 2009 included:

New SES vehicle
Somerset Regional Council will purchase a new $65,000 troop carrier for the Lowood State Emergency Service following the Queensland Government's offer of an $18,800 subsidy towards the purchase.

Lowood SES volunteers have recently logged hundreds of operational hours attending to emergencies over an area ranging from Ipswich in the south through to Bryden in the north.

Lowood drainage improvements
Somerset Regional Council will construct a 380 metre stormwater mitigation channel along the boundary of the Lowood Recreation reserve to improve drainage outcomes for both the reserve and the neighbouring Lowood industrial estate. The cost of the works is $17,000.
