Queenslanders have access to a number of authoritative, subscription-only databases that are not available through Google or other free search engines.

You can access these databases in the library - and most from any computer connected to the internet (e.g. home or office). You may need your Somerset Libraries membership card/number or an SLQ membership to access these resources.

ABS (Australian Bureau of Statistics)

Census data, demography statistics, migration, population, health, labour force and a select number of other ABS statistical publications. The full text of these publications can be found via the link on the main page to 'Publications' which can be browsed by subject or by publication number.

Beamafilm is an independent movie streaming site created by filmmakers; distributors and video on demand specialists. Beamafilm is unique for its collection of signature Australian docos and indie features from around the world, many which are only available through Beamafilm.

Good Reading Magazine

An Australian resource with information on "Everything About Books" including thousands of easy to read independent book reviews and lots of interesting Australian and International articles, author profiles, stories on writers' houses, bookshops, short stories, book trivia and more.

A database specially for children. Listen and watch ebooks online, read a review, write a book report and play games.

Ziptales

A library of educational stories, games, videos, comics, jokes, poems, puzzles and activities.

Ziptales is a reading program for children aged 6-12 focused on literacy, primary education, games and edutainment. Ziptales helps your child to improve their reading while enjoying the experience.
