2017 Somerset Christmas Lights Competition 2017 Somerset Christmas Lights Competition

HELP bring the magic of Christmas to Somerset by lighting up your home or business and entering the Inaugural Somerset Christmas Lights Competition.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said this year was the first time Council has organised the competition.

“We are offering seven different competition categories and the winner of each category will receive a $500 cash prize from Council,” Cr Lehmann said.

“Christmas light displays bring so much joy to people of all ages and Council wanted to help spread the joy and put a smile on everyone’s face.”

The Christmas Lights competition in Somerset has previously been organised by private residents and was well received in the community.

“Entries open on Wednesday, 1 November and will close on Friday, 1 December so I encourage as many people and businesses to enter as possible so we can light up our region and bring plenty of Christmas cheer,” he said.

Competition categories include, best business/community group display, best rural display, best urban display, best street (minimum four houses), display under 5000 lights, display over 5000 lights and under 10,000 lights and display over 10,000 lights.

Entrants are encouraged to consider visual appeal, uniqueness, overall impact, variety of decorations used, energy efficient and environmentally friendly options when creating their displays.

Entry forms are available here and at Council offices at Esk, Kilcoy and Lowood.
