Background

Since its construction in 1996 the Kilcoy Indoor Sports Centre has been providing a valuable recreation service to Kilcoy and the surrounding areas. Over the past 26 years the facility has evolved to incorporate gym and gymnastics facilities. Whilst the facility has proved to be a great recreational asset, it increasingly is unable to meet modern standards and community needs. 

Identified gaps to optimal performance for the facility include; insufficient space, insufficient storage, non-usable space, insufficient insulation and ventilation and insufficient parking. 

To address these gaps to performance and provide a long-term plan to cater to the needs of Kilcoy and surrounding areas a draft Master Plan has been created for the Redevelopment of the Kilcoy Indoor Sports Centre for stakeholder and community consultation.  Feedback on the draft Master Plan will inform the final Master Plan.

The draft Master Plan has been developed under the advice from the Kilcoy Indoor Sports Centre Re-Development Steering Committee, which comprises representation from Council, Somerset Health and Fitness (facility lessee), the Kilcoy Gymnastics Club and the Kilcoy State High School. 

The Have Your Say for the Kilcoy Indoor Sports Centre Redevelopment Draft Master Plan was available for completion until Wednesday 21 September 2022.
