SOMERSET Regional Council has this morning refused a Development Application for a hard rock quarry and concrete batching plant at Gregors Creek Road.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the application by Edith Pastoral Company was refused in line with feedback from the community.

“At today’s council meeting in Esk councillors unanimously voted against the application,” Cr Lehmann said.

“The application did not demonstrate compliance with the current State Planning Policy, and insufficient detail was provided to allow a complete assessment of the potential impacts.

“Further, the application did not demonstrate compliance with specific outcomes of the former Esk Shire’s Planning Scheme 2005.

“Council is committed to clear and consistent decision-making, and I acknowledge the 62 submissions for this application provided by the community.”
