Council awards two community grants

Two Community Assistance Grants have been awarded in the latest round of funding from Somerset Regional Council.

Esk Golf Club received a grant to support the Esk 1000 Golf Day, while Annette Dunstan was acknowledged ahead of the Australian Indoor Bias Bowls National Championships in Mount Gambier.

Institute honour for Somerset director

Somerset Regional Council Director of Operations Andrew Johnson has been elected South-West Queensland president of the Institute of Public Works Engineering Australasia, Queensland.

The institute represents people involved in the management, maintenance and operation of local government and public works infrastructure and services.

Mr Johnson will start the two-year voluntary role in October.

 

Council employee recognised for service

Long-term employee Bruce Small has been recognised for his service to Somerset Regional Council.

Mr Small was honoured for 15 years with council, beginning as a final trim grader operator at the former Esk Shire Council in August 2004.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann this week congratulated Mr Small at a presentation in Esk.

Council employee Bruce Small was recognised for his service to Somerset by Mayor Graeme Lehmann.

 

Somerset Regional Council held its meeting in the Simeon Lord Room at the Esk Library on Wednesday, 28 August at 9am.
