Audit confirms solid Somerset finances

Somerset Regional Council has received favourable audit certificates from the Queensland Audit Office for the 2018/19 financial year.

Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the reports confirmed council had once again met all State Government targets.

“We pride ourselves on our strong financial management and have placed full financial statements on our website along with the clean audit certificates,” Cr Lehmann said.

Somerset Civic Centre walking on sunshine

A 30-kilowatt rooftop solar system has been installed at Somerset Civic Centre in Esk.

Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the move was part of council’s commitment to reducing running costs and improving efficiencies at facilities across the region.

“Somerset Civic Centre continues our progressive upgrade of Somerset Regional Council’s facilities to solar, and we are looking forward to reducing costs and carbon emissions there,” Cr Lehmann said.

“We thank the State Government for its 50 per cent funding support for helping to power the civic centre with solar.”


Old time dance mornings come to Somerset

Esk Community Connection Point will present old time dance social mornings from this Friday, 18 October. Seniors over 65 can get out and exercise a little at the free sessions at Somerset Civic Centre. Funded through Musculoskeletal Australia and a Sports Aus Active Neighbourhoods for Older Australians Grant and supported by Somerset Regional Council, dancing will start at 9.30am. Garage sales in Somerset this weekend

The Somerset community has backed Australia’s biggest sale trail with more than 40 sites registered for the event.

The ninth annual Garage Sale Trail will be held this Saturday and Sunday, encouraging reuse, recycling and reduced waste.
