HOPE Street at Kilcoy will be closed to traffic at the D’Aguilar Highway intersection from Monday, 28 October.

The move is part of road resurfacing and rehabilitation work being delivered by Somerset Regional Council in partnership with the Queensland Government’s Department of Transport and Main Roads.

The Kilcoy project will also include improvements to the intersections at both ends of Mary Street.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the permanent road closure would improve safety and pedestrian access around the township.

“The intersection of Hope Street and the D’Aguilar Highway will be reconfigured as a cul-de-sac, meaning motorists will no longer be able to access the highway at the location,” Cr Lehmann said.

“Traffic controllers, reduced speed limits and Variable Message Signs will be in place to ensure the safety of motorists and workers.”
