Thea Hayes joins Library Lovers’ Day

Celebrate Library Lovers’ Day with activities across Somerset.

Part of a national movement to showcase Australian libraries, the week will include an author talk by Thea Hayes at Toogoolawah’s Alexandra Hall.

The A Country Nurse author will share her story from 10am on Tuesday, 11 February.

Bookings are essential and morning tea will be provided.

Other activities including origami and tea at Kilcoy Library and basket craft at Lowood Library will be held on Friday, 14 February from 10am to 12pm.

Have your say on Kilcoy sport and rec

Sport and recreation facilities in Kilcoy are the focus of an online survey from Somerset Regional Council.

The five-minute survey seeks feedback on the type, frequency, duration and location of participants’ sport and recreation activities in the township.

All respondents will go into the draw to win a three-month pass to Kilcoy Indoor Sports Centre valued at $180.

Feast of footy coming to Esk reserve

Up and coming Ipswich Jets players will feature in four trial matches at the new-look Esk Sport & Recreation Reserve on Saturday, 15 February.

The Jets will take on teams from the South West Mustangs and Ipswich Brothers, with the first game expected to kick off at 1.30pm.

The reserve will also host a Brisbane Rugby League trial match between the Normanby Hounds and West Brisbane on Saturday, 8 February.

The Hounds will take on Swifts in the curtain raiser at 4pm.

Recent works at the Hampton Road reserve include improved grandstand seating, stairs and amenities along with a refurbished clubhouse.


Free JP service to start in Esk

A free Justice of the Peace (JP) service will next month be launched at Esk Library.

The service will be at the Heap Street library from 9.30am to 11.30am every Tuesday, starting 18 February.

Somerset Regional Council would like to hear from JPs who can support similar services at its Lowood and Kilcoy libraries.
