SOMERSET Regional Council continues to support local contractors with the rollout of another four rooftop solar plants.

Wanora-based LV Electrical Contracting will install the plants at Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery, Esk Showgrounds, Kilcoy Indoor Sports Centre and council’s Esk workshop and stores facility.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the solar program was part of council’s commitment to reducing costs and improving efficiencies and environmental outcomes across the region.

“The implementation of solar plants is already having a positive environmental impact while significantly reducing power costs,” Cr Lehmann said.

“Following a competitive process assessed by solar experts Peak Services, we are thrilled to award this latest contract to one of our Somerset suppliers.

“Thirteen solar plants have already been installed across the region, and this new round will bring the total to 17.

“Of those, 16 have been awarded to local suppliers, and council continues to look at other possible solar sites throughout Somerset.”
