Somerset Regional Council meeting
Somerset Regional Council will hold its next meeting on Wednesday, 11 March.
The meeting will start at 9am in the Simeon Lord Room at the Esk Library in Heap Street.
Meetings are open to the public and agendas are available at somerset.qld.gov.au.
Art Like No Other comes to Esk gallery
A new exhibition featuring the work of Somerset mixed media artists Liz Kusay and Joy Holt is now on show at Glen Rock Gallery in Esk.
Presented by the Somerset Art Society Inc, Like No Other closes on Wednesday, 1 April.
Glen Rock Gallery is at 82 Ipswich Street, part of Somerset Regional Council’s Esk Visitor Information Centre.

Learn tips on retiring rurally
An information session on retiring rurally will be presented by Somerset Regional Council and Able Australia on Thursday, 26 March.
The session will bring together guest speakers, social services, medical providers and club representatives at Somerset Civic Centre from 10am to 1.30pm.
It will also include a presentation by a Services Australia financial information officer.
Catering will be provided and bookings are essential on 5600 0744 or 5424 4000.
Save the date for fun run or ride
The 18th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run or Ride will be held on Sunday, 12 July.
The day will once again include 3km and 8km events along with a 25km ride, all finishing at Fernvale Sports Park.
A post-race festival will feature live entertainment, food trucks, information stalls, children’s activities and more.
Registration will start with a 48-hour flash sale from 5pm on Friday, 27 March.
Call for creatives to join art festival
Creatives, musicians and performers can register for this year’s Somerset Art Beat Festival.
The second annual event will showcase all things art and culture at Somerset Regional Art Gallery – The Condensery on Saturday, 30 May.
Supported by Somerset Regional Council in partnership with Creative Arts Alliance, it will include market stalls, live music, dance performances, workshops, food and more.

Community grants open for 2020
Round two applications for Somerset Regional Council’s 2019-2020 Community Assistance Grants will close on Friday, 24 April.
Eligible community groups can apply for a grant for projects, events or services occurring after Friday, 29 May.

Social dance mornings in Somerset
Esk Community Connection Point hosts Strictly Seniors dance mornings at Somerset Civic Centre from 9.30am most Fridays.
Funded through Musculoskeletal Australia and an Active Neighbourhoods for Older Australians Grant and supported by Somerset Regional Council, sessions are aimed at over 65s.
Suitable shoes are a must, and a new dance is taught every three weeks.
