Somerset Regional Council confirms more closures
Somerset Regional Council will close its Esk administration and Lowood and Kilcoy customer service centres at 5pm today.
Libraries will also close, along with public pools.
SOMERSET Regional Council will close its Esk administration and Lowood and Kilcoy customer service centres at 5pm today.
Libraries at Esk, Lowood, Toogoolawah and Kilcoy will also close, along with the region’s public pools.
Council closed its visitor information centres and art galleries on Monday.
Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the latest round of closures was confirmed at today’s special council meeting to discuss the community impact of coronavirus.
"Council has remained agile in recent days with customer service centres, libraries and pools remaining open within a risk management framework," Cr Lehmann said.
"Staff have worked tirelessly and adapted to find alternative ways to keep our community centres open."
"However, with the increase of confirmed cases of coronavirus across the West Moreton Health district, advice has been received via the Local Disaster Management Group that council should now move to close all customer service centres, libraries and pools."
"Regardless of the closures, council staff have innovated and will continue to offer customer service to our community, albeit by different approaches."
"Once again, it is important that we all continue to take advice from state and federal authorities and keep personal hygiene and social distancing top of mind."
