VARIOUS community groups in Somerset have been given a helping hand from Council and will share in a funding pool of about $50,000.

Somerset Regional Council awarded various amounts of funding to 10 community groups to assist with a range of projects, events and services within the region.

The money has been made available through Council’s Community Assistance Grants program.

The following groups were approved for funding from Somerset Regional Council:

  • Brisbane Valley Pony and Hack Club - $5,000
  • Queensland Country Women’s Association, Esk Branch - $2,500
  • Esk Men’s Shed - $9,900
  • Kilcoy Bowls Club - $3,384.25
  • Kilcoy District Historical Society - $215.80
  • Let’s Get Active Linville - $2,320
  • Linville Hall Committee - $5,958
  • Lowood Recreational Complex - $9,000
  • Lowood Show Society - $5,760.70
  • Mount Stanley Muster - $5,199

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the funding would be of great benefit to the respective community groups.

“These funds will help groups organise various community festivities and activities or improve their existing community amenities,” Cr Lehmann said.

“In some instances, Council provides assistance, through in-kind support of staffing, promotion, waste collection and more, in lieu of direct financial assistance.”

Council offers two Community Assistance Grants funding rounds per year.
