Brisbane Valley Rail Trail’s Popularity Continues to Grow

Quarterly figures released today show the number of users on the BVRT continues to increase year on year.

Council has had counters installed in Fernvale and Esk since 2019 and more recently installed one in Lowood.  Fernvale continues to have the highest use with over 16,000 users enjoying the BVRT in the last quarter.

“The Brisbane Valley Rail Trail is a fantastic outdoor recreational experience for locals and visitors alike, offering a different experience along its 161km length” said Cr Lehmann

“Council has recently completed improvement works in Fernvale and Lowood townships on the BVRT including construction of wide pathways, solar lighting and seating

The Department of Transport and Main Roads have released an expression of interest to be on the steering committee for the ongoing development of the BVRT. The proposed committee will comprise of representatives from the department and councils with 4 volunteer positions open to the community.

“I would encourage all interested community minded individuals to consider nominating andbe a part of the ongoing success of Australia’s greatest rail trail.
