The Fernvale Sports Park now has a welcomed new addition following the recent completion of works to extend the existing clubhouse facility.

Fernvale Sports Park Advisory Committee Chair, Councillor Bob Whalley said, “The recent works to extend the existing building to include a kiosk, meeting space, referee change rooms and storage facilities makes the Sports Park a premier facility for Fernvale and Somerset”.

“We wanted the clubs to be able to make this place their home and the addition of the new facilities achieves this’, Cr Whalley said.

“We now have three established clubs at the site with the Somerset Storm Netball Club, Brisbane Valley Rattlers Australian Football Club and Marburg Mt Crosby Thunder Cricket Club. The Fernvale State School are also regular users of the site. We have capacity for more clubs to be based here and we’d welcome any queries from the community or existing clubs elsewhere”, Cr Whalley said.

Mayor Graeme Lehmann commented on the development of the facility thus far, saying, “The Fernvale Sports Park was first developed by Somerset Regional Council in 2016 and now features a fully lit oval with turf wickets, a full-sized rectangular field with a concrete wicket, cricket nets, four outdoor netball courts and amenities, in addition to the recently completed amenities extension works.”

This program was proudly funded by the Queensland Government’s 2020-21 COVID Works for Queensland Program.
