Queensland Ballet returns to Somerset

Queensland Ballet will hit the road again to spread the magic of ballet with people of all ages and abilities at the Somerset Civic Centre in Esk as part of its 2022 Community Regional Tour.

QUEENSLAND Ballet will hit the road again to spread the magic of ballet with people of all ages and abilities at the Somerset Civic Centre in Esk as part of its 2022 Community Regional Tour.

The program is being coordinated through Somerset Regional Council and funded by a Regional Development Arts Funding grant.  

On offer is a range of inclusive, innovative and joyful workshops that will enable all residents to access and experience ballet in Somerset.

Workshops include:

 

Ballet Moves - Two day dance experience

Mini dance camp for 6-12 year olds with Queensland Ballet

This two-day dance experience includes a range of ballet technique, repertoire and choreographic workshops that give participants a taste of all the fun Queensland Ballet has to offer.

The program will culminate in an informal presentation to share the experience with family and friends. This is an inclusive program suitable for all children, and no previous dance experience is required.

Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 June 2022. 9am – 2pm

Ballet for Seniors

A class for active seniors with Queensland Ballet

Based on QB Ballet for Seniors program, this gentle class is especially tailored for adults to experience ballet, with a focus on improving poise, core strength, memory and mobility.

Adults of any age are welcome to attend, and no previous dance experience is required.

Date: 29 June 2022. Somerset Civic Centre, 35 Esk Hampton Road, Esk. Cost: $10

Time: 3.15pm to 4.15pm

 

Petit Pointers (2-5yrs)

An engaging experience for toddlers and kindy kids with the Queensland Ballet.

Designed to stimulate the imagination, musicality and natural movement in children aged 2 – 5 years.

All participants will have a joyous experience with an important carer in their life.

Community Class (12-17yrs)

A fun and engaging class for 12-17 year olds with the Queensland Ballet.

This community class gives participants a taste of all the fun Queensland Ballet has to offer in an inclusive experience focusing on exploring ballet technique.

Date: 30 June 2022. Somerset Civic Centre 35 Esk Hampton Road, Esk. Cost: $10

Time: 12.30pm – 1.30pm

Ballet workshops are conducted by Qld Ballet and offered as part of Somerset Council’s school holiday program.

The Regional Arts Development Fund (RADF) is a partnership between the Queensland Government and Cook Shire Council to support local arts and culture in regional Queensland.
