The 19th annual Somerset Rail Trail Fun Run or Ride is on track to surpass 1,000 registrations.

Somerset’s largest recreational event will once again take place on Sunday, 10 July and will see participants to run or walk 8 kilometres or 3 kilometres between Lowood and Fernvale or ride 20 kilometres from Coominya along the historic Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.

Fernvale Sports Park Advisory Committee Chairperson and Somerset Economic Development and Advisory Committee Members, Cr Bob Whalley is pleased that the event continues to go from strength to strength.

“It’s great to see this event continue to grow. It’ll be great to see families and friends enjoy the best of what our region has to offer,”

“We’re excited to see the inclusion of Coominya into this year’s event. For the riders that haven’t ridden this section, you’re in for a treat. You’ll see some fantastic landscapes, the impressive Lockyer Creek Railway Bridge and our wonderful Lowood gardens.”

“We’re pleased to be able to continue to offer affordable registration, as well as free kids rides at the Fernvale Sports Park and complimentary buses between Fernvale, Lowood and Coominya.”

“I know it’s a little cold, but it’s worth it once you finish and enjoy the festivities in Fernvale. I’ll be there bright and early for the bike ride start in Coominya. I hope to see you there too,” said Cr Whalley.
