THE next suite of exhibitions will open at Somerset Regional Council’s award-winning art gallery, The Condensery, in Toogoolawah on Saturday, 26 November.
Natural State by Caitlin Franzmann and Perceptions by Jason Murphy and Gabe Parker will open to the public from 4pm.
Somerset Regional Council Deputy Mayor and Chair of the Condensery Advisory Committee said Natural State was the first commission of new work for The Condensery and is funded by the Australia Council for the Arts.
“The exhibition, Natural State, will be quite exciting as it will showcase Caitlin’s work following on from the year she spent in residence in Somerset meeting and talking with individuals and groups as well as visiting sites across the region,” Cr Brieschke said.
“Her work in the Natural State exhibition is created in response to her year in Somerset and includes a sculpture, video and sound.
“She will also run public programs during the exhibition’s duration.”
Caitlin Franzmann has exhibited nationally and internationally, including at National Gallery of Victoria, Institute of Modern Art, Brisbane and Kyoto Art Centre and is an accomplished award-winning artist.
The exhibit Perceptions explores the observations and interpretations of the landscape through sight and sound by Jinibara artist Jason Murphy and sculptor Gabe Parker.
Stanley River are projected against a kinetic sculpture containing reflective surfaces. As the sculpture moves the image is distorted and transformed before the viewer’s eyes. A soundscape of composed ambient field recordings asks the viewer to consider their own impact and footprint on Country.

The exhibitions will be on display until 12 February 2023.
