THE much anticipated and celebrated Mayoral Gala Charity Ball, organised by Somerset Regional Council, will be returning in 2023 after a hiatus following COVID.

The charity ball will be held at the Somerset Civic Centre in Esk on Saturday, 19 August from 6pm – midnight.

The black-tie event will feature three courses, beverages, a silent auction, a live auction, live entertainment and music.

Somerset Regional Council Mayor Graeme Lehmann said the event would be one not to be missed.

“All money raised from this popular event goes into a trust account for applications made under the Mayoral Gala Charity Ball fund,” Cr Lehmann said.

“Over the years, we’ve been able to help (with the support of the community and local businesses) dozens of families impacted by natural disasters and unfortunate events.

“The Mayoral Gala Charity Ball Fund supports and assists charities that assist people suffering from disability, homelessness, trauma, abuse, or neglect in the Somerset region. The funds are held in trust by Council to be distributed to approved charities under the Mayoral Gala Charity Ball Funds Policy.”

Cr Lehmann strongly encouraged charitable organisations operating within the Somerset region or assisting residents of the Somerset region to make an application under the policy for assistance.

“Applications can be made for either a tailored service or program to be delivered by the charitable organisation or as Emergency Incident Funds provided by a charitable organisation to a Somerset resident in need,” he said.

Council will be reaching out to local businesses who may like to sponsor the event and tickets will go on sale soon.
