Somerset Regional Council has scheduled a rate arrears auction for properties located at 40 Lehmanns Road in Coolana and 71 Brockhurst Drive in Hazeldean.

Somerset Mayor Graeme Lehmann said auctioning land for overdue rates is a last resort for Council.

“We only start these sale actions where people have more than three years of rates owing.”

Council rates help pay for vital services ranging from road and street maintenance and construction to the provision and maintenance of parks and outdoor community facilities to rural fire and state emergency services.

The operation of libraries and cemeteries, the financial assistance programs for community groups and environmental health services are also among broad range of community assets and services that Council rates help support.

“I encourage potential buyers to visit Council’s website for more information,” Cr Lehmann said.

The auction will be held at the Somerset Civic Centre, 35 Esk Hampton Road, Esk at 11am on Thursday, 25 May 2023.
