Published on 28 August 2025
Construction work for the new Station Street Carpark will start on Monday, 22 September, and is expected to be completed by December 2025, weather permitting.
Project Summary
As part of Somerset Regional Council’s Lowood Futures Strategy, a new carpark is being constructed at Station Street, Lowood.
Council has received $830,000 to build the Station Street Carpark under the South East Queensland (SEQ) Liveability Fund.
This carpark will give Railway Street workers and Lowood visitors a more convenient place to park.
This project is funded by the Australian Government, Queensland Government and Somerset Regional Council and forms part of the SEQ City Deal.
Impacts to businesses and residents
Construction works may cause disruption to traffic in Station Street behind the Mitre 10 and Farmcraft. Works may disrupt access for deliveries, loading and unloading at the rear of businesses. Council and contractor A&M Civil will attempt to minimise disruption to businesses caused by construction works.
During construction, parking will not be permitted on the land at the rear of Mercy Community Lowood (Mercy) and beside Farmcraft. There will be ample parking in Station Street opposite Mitre 10, Railway Street and the central carpark.
The Railway Street laneway access between Mercy and the Farmcraft entrance will be closed permanently to vehicles.
Should you have any issue regarding the works please contact A&M Civil on5426 7544 or Council on 5424 4000.
