Eleven Community Assistance Grants awarded across Somerset

SOMERSET Regional Council has awarded 11 applications a total of $20,578 for Round 1 of the 2025-2026 Community Assistance Grants program.

Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said there were many applications for community Christmas events.

“Our Council is so glad to give back to residents and not-for-profit groups through our Community Assistance Grants program,” Cr Wendt said.

“We’ve got some great Christmas events booked in across the region, and more great events and community initiatives being supported in this funding round.”

Esk Lions Club was awarded $1,500 to assist with hosting the ‘Lighting Up of the Esk Christmas Tree’ on 29 November.

Esk State School P and C Association was awarded $1,500 and 20 community bins to assist with hosting the Esk State School 150th anniversary fete on 1 November 2025.

The Glamorgan Vale Community Hall Association was awarded $1,500 and 10 community bins to assist with hosting the Glamorgan Vale Christmas Carnival on 3 November.

Fernvale Community Church, auspiced by the Fernvale Lions Club, was awarded $1,500 to assist with hosting the Fernvale Carols in the Park event on 20 December

Kilcoy District Progress Alliance was awarded $750 to assist with hosting a free sausage sizzle in Yowie Park for the official turning on of the Christmas lights on 30 November.

Kilcoy Residents Special Events Association was awarded $3,000 and 20 community bins to assist with hosting the Kilcoy Christmas Carnival on 6 December.

Lowood Lions Club was awarded $713.40 to assist with purchasing items to assemble care packages for Somerset residents undergoing cancer therapy.

Lowood Show Society was awarded $1,500 to assist with prize money for the 2025 Lowood Rodeo, held on 8 November.

The Mount Beppo Public Hall Committee was awarded $2,364.95 to assist with purchasing a commercial dishwasher for the hall’s kitchen.

The Toogoolawah Christmas Tree, auspiced by Toogoolawah & District Progress Association, was awarded $3,000 to assist with hosting the 2025 Toogoolawah Christmas Tree Carnival on 13 December.

Lastly, West Moreton Landcare was awarded $3,250 to assist with purchasing two 22,500 litre poly water tanks for their Community Garden Centre.
