The new Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre will be located on Cressbrook Street, opposite the current Toogoolawah Library and Alexandra Hall.

Somerset Regional Council is progressing the Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre, a new library and community facility funded through the Australian Government’s Thriving Suburbs Program.

Located on Cressbrook Street, the Centre will bring together a contemporary public library, a wellness hub with consulting rooms for visiting health professionals, and enhanced amenities for Brisbane Valley Rail Trail (BVRT) users.

Background

Situated alongside the BVRT, the Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre is designed to strengthen local services, support community wellbeing, and enhance the visitor experience for BVRT users.

Much like other successful community hubs across Queensland and Australia, the Centre has been planned with everyday life in mind.

The co-location of library services, wellness spaces and visitor facilities will make it easier for individuals, families and local groups to access programs, resources and support close to home, creating a welcoming place for learning, connection and community activity.

The project includes a purpose-built facility of more than 311 square metres featuring a 250 square metre library, two interview rooms, a seminar room, foyer and waiting areas, public and staff amenities, and supporting plant and communications spaces.

A sealed, lit 26‑space car park with two accessible parking bays, charging stations for e-bikes and CCTV will accommodate all visitors.

The $5.3 million development will incorporate contemporary building standards.

The Centre will provide a welcoming gateway to Toogoolawah while supporting community access, learning, cultural activity and economic growth within Somerset.
