Somerset Regional Council will host two business workshops in July and August, designed to support businesses with developing tender applications and capacity statements.

SOMERSET Regional Council will host two free workshops designed to support businesses with tendering and building capability statements.

Economic Development and Tourism Committee Chair, Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt, said the workshops would give businesses greater confidence in preparing tenders and marketing their product or service.

“We’re lucky to have the Department of State Development, Infrastructure and Planning presenting for both workshops,” Cr Wendt said.

“Any businesses wanting to stand out from the crowd should register with Council.”

The first event is the Tendering for Business Workshop, to be held 4pm to 7pm on Wednesday, 30 July at Esk Library, 19 Heap Street.

“This will cover how to interpret tender documents, how to respond to key criteria, common pitfalls and traps, and where to find tendering opportunities,” Cr Wendt said.

“This practical and interactive workshop will help businesses prepare comprehensive and conforming bids to tender for government and private sector contracts, both large and small.”

The second event is the Capability Statement Workshop, to be held 4pm-7pm on Wednesday, 13 August at the Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre, 41 Hope Street.

Cr Wendt said participating businesses would further improve their chances of securing contracts through the Capability Statement Workshop.

“Capability statements accompany tender submissions to help market your product or service,” Cr Wendt said.

“This workshop will cover best-practice fundamentals for developing and drafting a powerful capability statement, and how to access information on Queensland’s supply chain opportunities.

“We thank the Queensland Government for supporting these workshops, and we hope the Somerset business community can make the most of this opportunity.”

Bookings are essential and can be made through EventBrite.
