Mowing and vegetation management crews are out and about in Somerset, keeping Council’s public spaces clean and green.
Mowing season is here in Somerset
With the warmer weather arriving early in South East Queensland, Somerset Regional Council’s mowing and vegetation management crews have been out in force to keep the region’s public spaces clean and green.
Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said Council manages in excess of 200 hectares of public green space including recreation parks, sports parks, trails and reserves.
“It's a big job, requiring careful planning and weather considerations,” Cr Wendt said.
“However, the end result is worth it for our communities.
“Generally, mowing and slashing is concentrated in the warmer months of October to May, but this can be impacted by extreme wet weather, hot, and dry conditions.
“Our crews apply various factors to determine when, where and how frequently they mow.
“We appreciate the community’s patience and understanding throughout this period.”
