SOMERSET Regional Council has awarded more than $67,000 to community groups across the region in its latest round of Community Assistance Grants.

Community Assistance Grants support not-for-profit organisations to deliver projects, services and community events.

Fourteen community groups were awarded grant funding at Council’s 23 September Ordinary Meeting.

Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said Council was proud to partner with community organisations and congratulated the successful applicants.

“Our Council is so glad to give back to residents and not-for-profit groups by providing some financial support to assist the hard work of our volunteers,” Cr Wendt said.

“We’ve got some great community and Christmas events across the region being supported in this funding round.

“Not-for-profit organisations make a valuable contribution to the fabric of the community, and we encourage more community groups to apply for funding opportunities.

“To make the program more accessible Council has simplified the grant application and acquittal process with new online forms.”

Kilcoy District Tennis Association (KDTA) was awarded $4,200 to support a new paint job on the tennis clubhouse.

The tennis club was previously supported by Community Assistance Grants for rewiring the clubhouse’s lighting.
