ONE OF Somerset Regional Council’s most anticipated annual events is coming to Kilcoy on Friday, 18 September.

The 2026 Kilcoy Multicultural Carnival brings together Somerset’s melting pot of cultural groups to explore and celebrate the region’s rich diversity.

From 4pm to 7pm at Yowie Park on Hope Street, Kilcoy, Council will have cultural performances, international cuisines, free kids activities and information stalls.

Somerset Deputy Mayor Helen Brieschke said the Kilcoy Multicultural Carnival was an important event for Kilcoy and the Somerset community.

“Every year we welcome more and more new citizens to our country and our region,” Cr Brieschke said.

"They become part of our community and make meaningful economic and cultural contributions to our social fabric.

“The Kilcoy Multicultural Carnival is a chance to celebrate the people and cultures which make Somerset such a wonderful place to live.”

Cr Brieschke said the event brought together the tastes, sights and sounds of cultures from across the world.

“We’ll have a Welcome to Country from the Jinibara people, a Chinese lion dance from Dragon Dance Events, and a traditional Indian dance and Bollywood interactive dance from the Tapori Squad,” Cr Brieschke said.

“Kilcoy Global Foods will support the event with presentations from Fiji, Papua New Guinea, the Philippines, Solomon Islands, Timor Leste and Vanuatu cultural groups.

“Their passionate and colourful performances are always a highlight of the night.

“We’ll also have a henna design artist, face painting, llamas and plenty of kids activities.”

Council would like to thank its Presenting Partner Kilcoy Global Foods and Community Partner, King & Company Solicitors, for supporting this event.

The 2026 Kilcoy Multicultural Carnival is supported by the Queensland Government’s Strengthening Communities Multicultural Grants program and organised by Somerset Regional Council.
