Have your say on Kilcoy’s streetscape designs

KILCOY residents, visitors, businesses and community groups are encouraged to have their say on concept design plans for the town’s streetscape.

Somerset Regional Council has opened community consultation for the Kilcoy Streetscape Revitalisation Detailed Concept Design, with the plans and survey available online and at Council facilities in Kilcoy.

Kilcoy Streetscape Advisory Committee members, Councillors Tiara Hurley and Stephanie Laycock, said the community has an opportunity to shape Kilcoy’s future.

“Council is proud to share these plans with Kilcoy and the wider Somerset community,” Cr Hurley said.

“This is a significant milestone for the streetscape project and follows the completion of the upgraded Aston Park Precinct earlier this year, a taste of what is planned for the rest of Kilcoy town in the future.

“The design report includes activation spaces, improved pedestrian connectivity, landscape elements, entry gateway signage and more.”

Cr Laycock said the report includes 3D visualisations of arrival zones, carparking and landscaping.

“Council held consultation on the now adopted Master Plan in 2023, which has guided the detailed concept design,” Cr Laycock said.

“These new plans have ground-truthed the Master Plan and get into the finer details of the streetscape – the number of carparks, the types of buildouts, plant species and locations, and walkability and accessibility considerations.

“We want to gather specific feedback about these elements, to ensure this streetscape reflects an image of Kilcoy the community can be proud of.”

Community consultation closes 5pm Friday, 4 September.

Alternatively, printed copies of the design report and survey can be collected from the Kilcoy Customer Service Centre and Library or the Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre.

Residents can speak with Council’s Planning and Development team at a drop-in session at the Kilcoy Visitor Information Centre from 9am to 4pm on Thursday, 27 August.

The detailed concept designs have been supported by funding from Queensland Hydro’s Community Benefits Program.
