Somerset community invited to help shape region’s social future
Somerset residents are being invited to play a direct role in shaping the region’s social future, with Council seeking a new community representative for the Somerset Social Plan Advisory Committee.
The committee provides input into initiatives that support community wellbeing across Somerset, with Council looking for someone who lives, works or studies in the region and is actively involved in local groups, organisations or community activities.
Somerset Social Plan Advisory Committee Chair, Councillor Michael Bishop, said the position was an opportunity for a community-minded person to bring local experience and practical insight to the table.
“We want someone who can offer insight into the social, cultural, environmental and economic factors impacting the wider Somerset community, and how these may influence the development of the social plan,” Cr Bishop said.
Council is encouraging people with specialist skills, lived experience or strong community connections to nominate by submitting an expression of interest.

Expressions of interest close 5pm Friday, 2 October 2026.

The service will depart from the Esk bus stop near Esk Newsagency at 7.30am and return at 9am.
