Council awards $58k in grants to Somerset community groups

SOMERSET Regional Council approved more than $58,000 in funding between 24 community groups through Round Two of its Community Assistance Grants program for 2025-2026.

The successful recipients were announced at the Council Community Meeting held in Linville on Tuesday, 24 March.

Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said Council was proud to be able to support so many community-led initiatives across the region.

“Our Council is glad to give back to residents and not-for-profit groups through our Community Assistance Grants program,” Cr Wendt said.

“We’ve got some great events booked in across the region, and several important community initiatives being supported in this funding round.”

Alara QLD’s Esk branch will receive $750 for a portable defibrillator for use at activities and events.

Brisbane Valley Heritage Trails Inc will receive $2,680 to support hosting the Brisbane Valley History Expo 2026 at the Somerset Civic Centre in Esk.

Brisbane Valley Soccer Club will receive $3,303 for upgrades to its clubhouse, administration and canteen facilities.

Caboonbah Undenominational Church Inc will receive $750 to host the annual Bunyip Picnic on Sunday, 26 April at the church.

Care4esK Inc will receive $750 to host the annual Care4esK Community Information Day.

Esk and District Kindergarten Association Inc will receive $1,650 for six balance bikes and a gazebo.

Esk Campdraft Association will receive $7,210 to replace the oven in the campdraft’s kitchen at the Esk Showgrounds.

Esk Pastoral Agricultural and Industrial Association Inc (Esk Show Society) will receive $2,000 to support the 2026 Esk Show.

Glamorgan Vale Community Hall Association Inc will receive $1,500 to support its annual Easter Carnival.

Jimna Community Development Association will receive $1,757 to install an Anzac memorial plaque.

Kilcoy District Historical Society Inc will receive $848 for a new computer.

Kilcoy Hospital Auxiliary Association Inc will receive $1,005 for its annual fete, to be held in Yowie Park, Kilcoy.

Kilcoy Pastoral Agricultural and Industrial Society Inc (Kilcoy Show Society) will receive $2,000 to support the 2026 Kilcoy Show.

Linville Progress Association Inc will receive $5,254 to upgrade the Linville Community Hall’s power supply.

Lowood Fernvale District Hack and Pony Club Inc will receive $1,692 to upgrade electrical power points and outside lighting.

Returned and Services League of Australia Lowood Sub Branch Inc will receive $5,500 for a three-door fridge, ice machine and water filter.

Lowood Show Society Inc will receive $2,000 to support the 2026 Lowood Show.

Mount Kilcoy Progress Association Inc will receive $2,240 for folding tables and stackable chairs for the Mount Kilcoy Hall.

QCWA Branch Lowood will receive $508 for bird proofing solar panels on the QCWA Hall.

Somerset Dam and Districts Progress Association Inc will receive $2,406 for tables and chairs.

Somerset Storm Netball Club will receive $3,590 to install a trophy display cabinet and additional storage and shelving in their canteen.

Somerset Wildlife Rescue and Rehabilitation Inc will receive $2,545 for items to assist with animal rescues.

Toogoolawah Clay Target Club Inc will receive $4,372 to install air conditioning to its clubhouse.

Toogoolawah Dairying Agricultural and Industrial Association Inc (Toogoolawah Show Society) will receive $2,000 to support the 2026 Toogoolawah Show.
