Help shape the future of Somerset Libraries

Somerset Libraries have launched a Community Satisfaction Survey to inform a new six-year strategic plan.
SOMERSET Regional Council is planning the next chapter for its library services and is seeking community input.
Council has launched its Somerset Libraries Community Satisfaction Survey, open from Tuesday, 6 January to Sunday, 15 February 2026.
Residents are invited to complete the survey on Council’s website or by visiting their nearest library branch.
Arts, Culture and Heritage Advisory Committee Chair, Councillor Sally Jess, said Somerset Libraries were seeking to define community priorities to provide the best possible public library service into the future.
“Somerset is expected to grow from 26,000 to 36,000 residents within the next ten years and with this increase, Council is always looking for ways to improve its services to better support the community,” Cr Jess said.
“We’re looking for community input to inform the Somerset Libraries Strategic Plan 2026-2032, and to help shape projects like the new Toogoolawah Library and Cultural Centre which will replace the current small space with a modern library, meeting rooms and spaces for visiting services.”
Cr Jess encouraged all Somerset residents to have their say.
“Whether you’re a regular at our libraries or you have never visited, we want to hear from you,” Cr Jess said.
“If you love our libraries then tell us why, and if you’ve never stepped foot inside, what would encourage you to visit?
“Our four libraries in Esk, Kilcoy, Lowood and Toogoolawah are supported by a digital library and the Somerset On The Go app, offering access to 47,000 items.
“In 2024-2025 we recorded 83,000 visits and 52,000 loans, and we expect this number to grow as our community’s population and demands grow.
“By completing this survey, you will help Somerset Libraries position itself to deliver better services into the future.”
This project has received financial assistance from the Queensland Government through State Library of Queensland.
