Somerset Regional Council’s popular seniors exercise program, Movement to Music, will now be offered in Lowood with two free come-and-try sessions held in September 2025.
SOMERSET seniors, put on your dancing shoes because Movement to Music is coming to Lowood.
Somerset Regional Council and its seniors connection program, In Good Company, has partnered with venue provider STAR Community Services to host fortnightly Movement to Music sessions at the Lutheran Church Hall on 43 Park Street, Lowood.
Free introductory sessions will be held at 11.30am on Friday 12 and 26 September, followed by paid sessions through October to December 2025.
Social Plan Committee chair, Councillor Michael Bishop, said the Movement to Music plan had proven to be very popular in Toogoolawah.
“We want to make this program accessible across the region, so we’re ecstatic to open the Movement to Music program in Lowood for the southern Somerset community,” Cr Bishop said.
“Movement to Music provides social connection and exercise physiology services in a fun, safe and supportive environment.
“We have a qualified Exercise Physiologist from Bertram Physiotherapy Rehabilitation Centre delivering the classes, helping our seniors improve coordination, balance, mobility, wellbeing and cognitive function.”
Cr Bishop encouraged seniors to reserve their spot.
“We’ll have introductory sessions on Friday, 12 September and Friday, 26 September at 11.30am,” Cr Bishop said.
“This is an opportunity for people to try the program without committing to the paid sessions running from October to December.”
The October to December term will be held fortnightly from Friday, 10 October to Friday, 19 December.
The term costs only $30 and includes six one-hour sessions, to be paid in cash at the first class on Friday, 10 October.
In addition to hosting Movement to Music, STAR Community Services also provides transport services – call 3821 6699 for more information.
