Somerset Spotlight to connect residents with Council

Somerset Spotlight will be available in print and digital formats at the end of May 2026.
SOMERSET Regional Council is launching a new bi-monthly newsletter at the end of May 2026, creating more informed communities and strengthening connections between residents and Council.
Somerset Mayor Jason Wendt said the newsletter, Somerset Spotlight, was a key initiative in improving communication with residents, businesses and community groups.
“We want to share all the important news coming out of Council with the community,” Cr Wendt said.
“Local governments deliver some of the most important services for residents, whether it be road maintenance, waste management, libraries, parks and gardens or strategic development planning.
“We’re here on the ground serving you every day, so it’s important we’re able to effectively communicate updates and information with our residents.”
Cr Wendt said Somerset Spotlight would provide a snapshot of Council news every two months.
“The newsletter will include updates on major projects, arts and culture stories, meeting highlights, upcoming events and much more,” Cr Wendt said.
“We’ll have a printed newsletter available at Council’s Customer Service Centres, Somerset Libraries, Visitor Information Centres and various other Council facilities.”
Cr Wendt encouraged residents to subscribe to receive the newsletter directly to their email inbox.
“We have a special offer running where anyone who subscribes before 30 June will go in the running to win a family pass to the 2026 Somerset Rail Trail Classic,” Cr Wendt said.
Ultimately, Cr Wendt said, the newsletter was about making Somerset Regional Council more accessible to the community.
“We know not everyone uses social media, not everyone reads the newspaper, and some people may have never even visited our website,” Cr Wendt said.
“Our new print and digital newsletter is another way we can reach more people in the community, forge new connections with our residents, and share Somerset news.”
The first edition will be released at the end of May 2026.
